Parents/Carers/Guardians/Spectators Code of Conduct

  • Abide by the Consett A.S.C. General Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies.
  • Always consider the well-being and safety of all swimmers.
  • Encourage swimmers to value their performance and not just results.  Acknowledge their effort and performance.  Be proud of your child’s achievements however large or small.
  • Do not ridicule or shout at a child for making mistakes or losing a race, children learn best by example.  Appreciate good performance and skill by all participants.
  • Encourage and guide swimmers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
  • Always remember that the involvement in swimming is for the child’s enjoyment and they should be encouraged to participate, not forced.
  • Do not shout or abuse officials. Most officials give their time and effort for your swimmers involvement.
  • Do not shout or abuse coaches or volunteer staff. Without them, your child could not participate.
  • Please allow the coaches / teachers to coach/ teach with out interference both at training sessions and in competitions. Respect the coaches/teachers decisions.
  • Any issues, disagreements or concerns that Parents/Carers have should be addressed to the Coach/Teacher or committee member in private at the end of the session. They should not be addressed during the session on the pool side.

  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities and set the right example to your child and others by showing respect and courtesy to all fellow parents/carers and spectators.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Any breaches of this code of conduct may result in further action being taken by the committee.
